Outdoor Saunas Cornwall
Cornwall’s relationship with the outdoors has always shaped how people live here, and that thinking now extends into the garden. Across the UK, more people are looking for outdoor saunas, but nothing compares to having your own at home.
Phase offers two home sauna options. Olas is a compact sauna created for one or two people, while Tǒmder provides a larger, more spacious setting. Both are built to bring everyday luxury into your garden without having to leave home.
Olas makes the most of a smaller footprint, with an internal space of 1m x 1.35m within practical external dimensions of 1.35m x 1.7m. Prices start from £7,000 + VAT.
With a bold, contemporary design and a spacious interior of 2m x 2m within a 2.4m x 2.4m external footprint, Tǒmder is built to stand out while sitting comfortably within any outdoor setting. Prices start from £9,000 + VAT.
Designed for year-round use, both saunas bring the experience into your own garden, giving you a private space to slow down, recover and enjoy the outdoors from home.
Thoughtful Design and Sustainable Materials
Sauna bathing was once part of everyday life in Britain too, before the practice declined here in the 1600s and 1700s. It’s only in the past decade that garden saunas have properly returned to British gardens. Olas and Tǒmder are modern reinterpretations of the traditional sauna, built for the British climate rather than imported wholesale from Scandinavia.
Both models come as standard with natural timber cladding, with the option to upgrade to Thermowood for extra durability and a distinctive, contemporary finish that sits naturally within a garden or patio setting.
If neither the standard timber nor the Thermowood upgrade matches the look you have in mind, we’re happy to discuss other bespoke material and finish options. Coastal air carries a high salt concentration that can corrode standard fixings quickly, so materials are chosen with Cornwall’s weather in mind throughout.
Internally, natural timber boarding creates a warm, understated finish, with further Thermowood options available. LED strip lighting uprated to manage the heat and moisture inside a sauna is fitted as standard across our cabins.
Olas also features a tempered glass door, double-bench design and a HUUM™ sauna heater, with Wi-Fi control available as an option. Dedicated inlet, exhaust and drying ventilation provide effective airflow and moisture management within its compact interior.

From Design to Installation
Every Phase sauna starts with a conversation about your garden. The right placement makes a real difference to comfort and privacy, so we consider how the sauna will sit within its surroundings and work with the conditions of your garden throughout the day.
Planning permission is often not required for a garden sauna in Cornwall, provided it meets certain criteria, including a maximum height of 2.5 metres near a boundary. We’ll always confirm this against your specific site before work begins.
Every sauna is handmade and fully completed in our workshop here in Cornwall, where you are welcome to visit while yours is under construction. Build time is a minimum of three weeks, in addition to our current waiting period, which varies depending on workload.
We can confirm the current lead time when you enquire. Phase can also provide site works and transport packages to make the journey from workshop to finished sauna as straightforward as possible. From the outset, we plan for proper drainage to prevent water pooling around the base and causing wood rot over time.
The Health Benefits of an Outdoor Sauna at Home
There are many health benefits to regular sauna use, and they’re well documented. For instance, heat exposure dilates blood vessels, improving circulation and helping the body recover after exercise. For many homeowners, this makes a sauna a relaxing addition to their post-workout routine and a comfortable place to unwind at home.
Pairing a session with cold water can also form part of a wider hot-and-cold routine. It’s one reason cold-water swimming and sauna bathing are so often enjoyed together along the Cornish coast. Cold water dips lower blood pressure and strengthen the immune system.
Beyond the physical side, a regular sauna routine can provide a calm break from everyday life and create time to slow down. Whether it’s a quiet morning reset, an evening spent unwinding under the stars or a session shared with someone else, Olas and Tǒmder can turn your garden into a wellness space to enjoy through every season.
Saunas by The Sea: Cornwall's Sauna Culture
Cornwall has built a wonderful sauna culture over recent years, much of it influenced by traditional Finnish practices. Wood-fired sauna cabins and cedar wood saunas have become a familiar sight along the Cornish coast, often complemented by an ocean swim, outdoor shower or cold plunge.
Some setups lean further into hot-and-cold therapies, combining a wood-fired sauna with outdoor hot tubs and a proper cold therapy dip, in the same spirit as the Nordic wild spa hubs found across Scandinavia. It’s not unusual to find a beachside sauna offering yoga classes or sound bath sessions alongside a regular session, turning the whole experience into something closer to a wellness retreat.
For many, the appeal starts with wild swimming in the sea before stepping into the heat, an amazing experience that gets people through the Cornish winter as much as the summer. However, a trip to a public spot only goes so far, and a shared beachside sauna can only fit so many people at once. Building your own sauna at home means you can enjoy the same ritual whenever you want it, without queuing.
Why Homeowners Choose an Outdoor Sauna Experience
For most of our clients, a garden sauna is about creating a little oasis at home that earns its place through regular use in every season, without needing to leave the garden.
A well-built sauna adds a genuine wellness retreat to a property. Unlike a shared sauna by the beach, it’s ready whenever you are. Olas is ideal for individuals and couples looking for a compact home sauna, while Tǒmder provides more interior space for those who want a larger garden retreat.
Every Tǒmder is backed by a 10-year structural warranty, so it’s built to be part of the garden for years to come, not just a passing trip into wellness.
For homeowners already working with us on a garden room, either sauna can pair naturally as a second, smaller structure focused purely on recovery and relaxation, giving both body and soul somewhere to unwind.
Bring a Phase Sauna to Your Garden
Olas or Tǒmder can turn an underused corner of your garden into a private space for year-round wellbeing. Olas is the compact choice for one or two people, while Tǒmder provides a larger space for those who want more room.
