Why Choose Garden Rooms in Plymouth?
A garden room adds valuable space to your home without changing the main house. Set apart from your main living areas, it gives you a dedicated space for work, exercise, hobbies or relaxation.
These units can also provide the extra space you need, whether that’s a quiet home office, a creative studio, a private gym or a playroom for the children. A well-designed garden room can accommodate all of these uses, with the layout and finishes tailored to how you want to use it.
A garden building can also add value to your property. When it's finished to a high standard, it becomes a lasting additional space that can benefit both your lifestyle now and your home's appeal in the future.
Our Garden Room Range
Our garden rooms come in three sizes, so you can match the area to your plot and your plans.
Each is finished with tongue-and-groove panelling, a shadow-gap birch plywood ceiling and recessed LED lighting. Large sliding glass doors flood the room with light. View our cabin range:

Garden Offices for Working From Home
Garden offices are our most popular request. Working from a dedicated space in the garden can reduce household distractions and create a clearer separation between home and work.
For someone who needs a quiet place to focus, Lowarth offers a compact workspace with plenty of natural light and enough room for a desk and everything you need for the working day. Sodvha provides more room, making it a better fit for two people working together or for anyone who wants a little more space around them.
Both cabins are built for year-round use, so your office remains comfortable through the changing seasons. Recessed LED lighting and large sliding patio doors bring plenty of light into the room, while the garden outside provides a welcome break from the screen.
If you want an office that feels like part of your home rather than a shed with a desk, this is the right place to start.
Garden Buildings Made to Last
A well-made garden building starts with how it is built. Every Phase cabin is made by hand in our Callington workshop, where our team can keep a close eye on the construction and finish before it leaves Cornwall.
Building indoors also means we are not relying on the weather. Your cabin is constructed in a controlled environment and delivered to your garden ready to install, keeping the work on site to a minimum.
You can even visit the workshop and see your cabin taking shape. Just get in touch beforehand, and we will arrange a suitable time. Every Phase cabin also comes with a 10-year structural warranty, giving you extra reassurance that your investment is built to last.
Do Garden Rooms Need Planning Permission?
Many garden rooms can be built under permitted development rights without making a full planning application. However, this depends on factors including the room's size, height, position within the garden and the type and location of the property.
For example, an outbuilding within two metres of a property boundary is generally limited to a maximum overall height of 2.5 metres if it is to fall within the relevant permitted development rules. Other restrictions also apply.
Permitted development rights can also be different or restricted for certain properties and locations, so it is always worth checking the requirements for your particular project before work begins. Learn more about planing permission for our garden rooms here.
Bespoke Garden Rooms for Your Outdoor Space
Your outdoor space is not the same as your neighbour's. The slope, the sun and the view all shape where a room should sit and how it should face.
We offer a range of fit and finish options, discussed with you before the build starts. That is what makes each room a bespoke garden room rather than an off-the-shelf box. Tell us how you plan to use it, and we will help you choose the right size and finish.
You can also visit our workshop by appointment to view our garden rooms, see the materials we use and discuss the options available for your own space.
How Our Installation Works
Once your cabin is ready, we handle the delivery from our workshop to your garden. Solid bases or ground screw foundations can be used to ensure a stable foundation. Our experienced installation team then assembles and finishes the cabin on-site. This process minimises any disruption to your garden, allowing you to quickly start enjoying your new space.
Most installations are completed within four to five days, although this can vary depending on the model and site. We can discuss delivery and installation dates with you early on, so you know what to expect as the project moves forward.
Our team knows each cabin inside and out, from its construction to the smallest finishing detail. This expertise helps us maintain the quality of the completed work and gives you a single team to deal with throughout the process.
The result is a flexible space that complements your home and garden and can become part of your life for many years to come.Skip the gym subscription and the drive. A garden gym opens up before sunrise and closes when you want it to. Our larger Sodhva and Studhla cabins are ideal for a full home gym setup with the option to add mirrored walls, durable flooring, and integrated power.

The good news is that many garden rooms can be built without planning permission, as they often fall under permitted development rights. However, there are a few things to consider, including the size and height of the building, where it sits in your garden and how close it is to neighbouring boundaries.
If your home is in a conservation area, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) or is a listed building, there may be additional restrictions. How you plan to use the space can also make a difference, especially if it's for business purposes. For most garden rooms used as extra space at home, planning permission isn't usually needed, but it's always best to check first.
At Phase, we're happy to offer free advice and talk through any planning considerations before your project gets underway.
